Learning about community helpers is an essential part of preschool education. It is important for children to understand the roles of police officers and how they help to keep our communities safe. Police Badge

Police Badge

One of the most recognizable symbols of a police officer is their badge. To make a police badge, you will need:

  • Yellow construction paper
  • Black marker
  • Safety pin

Instructions:

  1. Cut a circle out of the yellow construction paper.
  2. Draw a star in the center of the circle with the black marker.
  3. Write "POLICE" above the star and "OFFICER" below the star.
  4. Attach a safety pin to the back of the badge.

Police Car

Children love to play with toy cars, and making a police car is a fun way to incorporate police officers into their playtime. To make a police car, you will need:

  • Cardboard box
  • Black and white paint
  • Construction paper (blue and red)
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut the top off of the cardboard box.
  2. Paint the box black and white to resemble a police car.
  3. Cut out blue and red construction paper to make lights for the top of the car.
  4. Glue the lights to the top of the car.

Fingerprints are a unique identifier and police officers use them to help solve crimes. Making fingerprint art is a fun way to introduce preschoolers to fingerprints. To make fingerprint art, you will need:

  • White paper
  • Black ink pad
  • Markers

Instructions:

  1. Press your finger onto the ink pad and then onto the paper to create a fingerprint.
  2. Use markers to turn the fingerprint into an animal or other object.

Police Hat

Police Hat

A police officer's hat is a recognizable part of their uniform. Making a police hat is a fun way to teach preschoolers about the different parts of a police officer's uniform. To make a police hat, you will need:

  • Black construction paper
  • White paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut a long strip of black construction paper to fit around the child's head.
  2. Cut out a circle from the black construction paper to make the top of the hat.
  3. Cut out a badge shape from the white paper and write "POLICE" on it.
  4. Glue the circle to the center of the long strip of black construction paper.
  5. Glue the badge to the front of the hat.

These police crafts are a fun and interactive way for preschoolers to learn about police officers and their role in the community.
